“प्रत्येक मनुष्याचं जीवन म्हणजे एक व्रतच असतं.

 

व्रत म्हणजे परमेश्वराच्या चण्डिकाकुलाच्या शद्बाचे पालन. व्रताधिराजाच्या वेळी आपण ग्रंथामधून घेतलेलं पुष्प म्हणजे चण्डिकाकुलाचा शद्ब आणि त्याचं वर्धमान रितीने पालन म्हणजे व्रत.

व्रत शद्बाचा मूळ अर्थ आहे - सत्य, सत्याच्या पालनासाठी ऋत नियम. ती आदिमाताच आपल्या तीनही पुत्रांना आदेश देते, तिनेच व्रताचा सोपा मार्ग दिलाय. आणि व्रतामध्ये सगळ्यात सोपं व्रत म्हणजे व्रताधिराज.”

आदिमातेने तिच्या तिन्हीं पुत्रांना जो आदेश दिला तो आदेश म्हणजे व्रत. 

Once Param Pujya Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Bapu’s Sadguru Shreevidya Makrand Gopinathshastri Padhye,a learned scholar, an ascetic who travelled on the path of bhakti was engrossed in the meditation of Lord Dattaguru and worship of Lord Shree Vitthala, chose a great hymn (Abhang) of one of the greatest saint Tukaram Maharaj for elucidation (narration) “Budati he jan pahave na dola | (I cannot bare to see that these people are drowning in the dark sea of ignorance and pain) Mhanuni kalwala yeto tyancha ||” (That’s why I am having intense pity on them).

That was the day of Kartiki Ekadashi (the 8th month is Kartik in Marathi month). That day Gopinathshastri along with his few selected devotees went to Nimbgaon. The elucidation and Narration (kirtan) was over but there was an intense emotional upheaval tormenting Gopinathshastri. He poured out all his grievances before Lord Vitthala. “Vitthala, Bhagawanta, please have mercy on the pitiable condition of the saints who are friendly to the poor (dinabandhu) and always trying to illuminate their lives with the light of devotion but their efforts are met with very little success due to the evil effects of the Kaliyug. My Lord bestow your blessings on the human race in this fourth age (kaliyug) and show us the easy path to rescue us from the evil clutches of kali in the near future. We are common people, entangled in our domestic life, trying to worship but our attempt often gets thwarted and becomes unsuccessful as it is an unsystematic effort on our part. Shree Gopinathshastri spent that entire night in that mournful state. He clasped and embraced the idol of Vitthala to his heart and offered his austerities and penance for nine days without food and water at his Favorite place i.e. the bank of ‘Panjara’ River. On the ninth day Lord Vitthala gave him divine appearance (Darshan) and showered his blessings on him in the form “Shree Vardhaman Vratadhiraj”, the path of happiness and well being of all Human kind and asked him to continue this Vardhaman-jap in his race for one thousand full moon days so that it could easily be accessible to the entire human progeny.

With due reverence to Lord Vitthala, Sadguru shri Gopinathshastri commenced the vardhaman Jap in the same year on Dattajayanti (Margashirsha Pournima). Out of nine components of Shree Vardhaman Vratadhiraj only the recitation of the vratapuspa (any strota,prayer) had to be achieved within the duration of thousand full moon days with the help of ceaseless reiteration.

After Shree Gopinathshastri, his daughter (Bapu’s grandmother Shakuntalabai Pandit) continued the Vardhaman Jap.

Bapu’s Mother, Arundhatimata, started vardhaman jap along with her mother from the Margashish Pournima in the Year 1955 till Margashirsh Pournima of 1956.

Shakuntalabai Pandit gave this vardhman Jap to P. P. Nandamata in the year 1991 and in the year 1993, three days before her salvation she gave this jap to P. P. Suchitdada.

The Shree vardhaman Vratadhiraj Jap which begun on the auspicious day of Dattajayanti (Margashirsh Pournima) by Sadguru Shree Gopinathshastri in the year 1924 was completed on Margashirsh Pournima in the year 2005

Benefits to the devotees who follow the Shree Vardhman Vratadhiraj:

The observance of the Shree Vardhaman Vratadhiraj by the vratadharaka (one who performs the vrata) fetches him ten times more merits than performing any other vrata. It is one of the most powerful vrata which immensely helps the vratadharaka to progress at all the three levels- the gross, the subtle and the supra-occular.

The vratadharaka who observes this sacred vrata from the age of 18 years till his death can get access to the Bhargalok of God, where he can be one with the Divine. This is called ‘samipya’. He who attains Bhargalok gets rid of his karma and thus attains liberation from rebirths and is only born if the Divine Lord wishes.

This Bhargalok is called ‘gokul’, ‘golok’ or ‘parmatmyache premlok’, which is infinitely beautiful and pure where we merge with the Cosmic Beloved.

The observance of the Shree Vardhaman Vratadharaka not only frees the soul from the bondage of evil thoughts and deeds and ego but allows us to sail blissfully in the sea of happiness and also helps us to acquire superior spiritual qualities in the astral world where we are one with God eternally.

The begining of this most pious vrata is marked with the most pious day, Datta Janam Day means Datta Jayanti.

It is to be done for the period of 30 days, starting from Datta Jayanti (Margashrish Purnima), followed by its Udyapan on the 30th day of pathan.

One has to choose any prayer, stotra, praman or any other page from ShriMadpursharatha Grantharaj, Matravatsalya Vindanam, Matravatsalya Upanishad, Gurushetram Mantra which will be the "Vratapushpa" for entire 30 days. 

On the first day, one has to read once, on the second day, one has to read twice, third day thrice, similarly increasing the number of repetitions till 30 times on 30th day.

This Vrata will provide 10 times more Satvagun (Like Brahma Murtha Pooja’s) than any other Vrata can provide and also help to provides us “Parmeshwari Krupa”.
